Continuous Motion Eye-Hand

Equipment: Chalkboard, chalk.

Purpose: To develop saccadic skills, and increase peripheral awareness.

Procedure: Therapist writes 10 consecutive numbers randomly placed on the board. Patient finds the first number and circles it three times. While he/she is circling it he/she scans for the next number. Without ever stopping the chalk from moving, the patient continues locating and circling the numbers in order.

Gradations:

  1. Use alphabet instead of numbers.
  2. Increase from ten up, if patient is able.
  3. Add a metronome.
  4. Increase the speed.
